Safety & Sustainability
Clean Chemistry is committed to improving safety, reliability and sustainability with its technologies and services. Development of PeroxyMAX is rooted in the principles of green chemistry and pollution prevention for inherently safer product alternatives to protect people and the environment.
Safety benefits for pulp & paper mill operations
- Reduces worker chemical exposure through safer product concentration and low volatility.
- On-demand, low volume generation of the active oxidant does not pose a release hazard to surrounding communities.
- The product is safe when used with other common oxidants, acids, alkali, ammonia.
- Only one new, non-hazardous feedstock chemical is required at the mill.
- With reduced corrosion and damage potential, the product is safe to use on existing mill equipment.
- Relatively short-lived and non-persistent. Naturally dissipates to non-hazardous residuals.

Advantages
The pulp & paper industry is facing increased consumer pressure for environmentally friendly and more sustainable products, which is motivating full lifecycle valuation in how products are manufactured. PeroxyMAX is a new option to help address sustainability goals:
- Reducing chlorine chemical use, mill emissions, and worker exposure from over-use
- Reducing AOX and toxicity of effluents
- Byproducts of PeroxyMAX are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) with no added stabilizer
- Key ingredient is derived from a renewable resource
- Can increase energy recovery in the pulp mill
- Carbon footprint reduction provided by:
- Low power production process
- No refrigeration required for delivery or storage of active product
- Minimal new containment and emergency response infrastructure required
- Low chemical consumption per unit of oxidant produced
