Clean Chemistry, a portfolio company of Black Bay Energy Capital, is a technology-forward organization focused on solving industry’s water treatment and microbial control issues with cleaner, safer chemistry. PeroxyMAX™, Clean Chemistry’s foundational oxidant technology, is currently being utilized in full-cycle water treatment solutions for the energy, food and beverage, pulp and paper, and cooling tower industries with near-term expansion plans into other industrial water treatment applications. In every industry served, Clean Chemistry strives to provide sustainable, customizable, and smart solutions for difficult treatment challenges.

Our History

Clean Chemistry was founded with a mission to develop and commercialize new water treatment and sanitization technologies that align with today’s sustainability goals. Since entering the industrial water treatment market with its core technology, Clean Chemistry has expanded its offerings as an innovative chemistry and service company with providing solutions to energy, pulp and paper, food and beverage and any industry that relies on sustainable water use. Our creative roots inspire us to continue stretching the limits of our technology, evolving with the industries we serve and constantly growing our portfolio of products and services to best meet our customers’ needs. Clean Chemistry’s world class team is headquartered in Boulder, Colorado and Midland, Texas.

Nick Gardiner

Nick Gardiner

Chief Executive Officer

Nick joined Clean Chemistry in 2019 after a 34-year career spanning multiple roles in the upstream oil and gas industry, primarily in the well completions segment. He has lived and worked in a variety of locations including Louisiana, Texas and Dubai and is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Nick obtained a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University and an MBA from Texas A&M University.
Wayne Buschmann

Wayne Buschmann

Chief Technology Officer

Dr. Wayne Buschmann is the chief technology officer and founder of Clean Chemistry. Wayne is originally from Massachusetts, received a BS in chemistry from the University of New Hampshire, a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Utah, and held a post-doctoral position at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. After Los Alamos, he joined a contract research and development company in Colorado where he raised funds and grew a water technology program for several years. Wayne then made the leap into creating an independent start-up to invent the core technologies that were foundational to forming Clean Chemistry in 2012. To date, he has co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed technical publications, is a primary inventor on 25 patents, is a member of the American Chemical Society and TAPPI and serves on the board of directors for a local municipal water district.
Adam Harwell

Chief Financial Officer

Adam Harwell joined the Clean Chemistry team in 2023. He was most recently Vice President, Finance at NexGen Chemical Technologies. Prior to that he was Vice President, Operations Controller for Strike, LLC. In his tenure at Chicago Bridge & Iron, Adam held various positions of increasingᅠresponsibility, culminating in being named Vice President of Financial Operations, Engineering and Construction. Adam completed a Master of Science and Bachelor of Business Administration, both in accounting, from Texas A&M University. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Texas. Adam began his 20 year career in finance as an Assurance Associate at Price Waterhouse Coopers.ᅠ
Yolanda Brown

Yolanda Brown

Vice President - Controller

Yolanda has a proven track record of financial leadership in many accounting environments. She leads Clean Chemistry’s finance, accounting, human resources and supply chain teams. Previous positions Yolanda has held include regional controller for TechnipFMC, financial controller for Jupiter Transport, LLC and financial controller for Southwest Provider Management, Inc. Yolanda holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration, both in accounting, from The University of Texas Permian Basin. She started her career as an accounting intern for Pioneer Natural Resources Company.
Brent Bankosky

Brent Bankosky

President- Food & Beverage Segment

Brent is a senior chemical industry executive with extensive experience associated with the manufacturing and sale of specialty biocides, including Peracetic Acid (PAA), Chlorine Dioxide (ClO2), and other EPA and FDA regulated products. Brent’s primary expertise is in the food and beverage space, but he has also grown businesses in other regulated microbial control markets. Brent was most recently chief revenue officer at Meras Water Solutions. Previously, Brent was vice president and business leader for Arxada and president of Enviro Tech Chemical Services. Brent was instrumental in Enviro Tech’s rapid growth and ultimate sale to Arxada in 2021. Brent holds an MS in Molecular Biology from Lehigh University and a BS and MBA from Pennsylvania State University.
Jeff Branam

Jeff Branam

Vice President- Operations- Energy Segment

Jeff Branam was named vice president of oil and gas operations at Clean Chemistry in 2023 following an 18-year career spanning several roles in the upstream oil and gas industry, primarily in the oilfield chemicals and natural gas pipeline segments. Jeff was most recently regional operations manager at ChampionX. He also held managerial field operations roles at Nalco Champion and West Texas Gas Inc. A Houston-area native, he has lived and worked primarily in the Texas and New Mexico regions. He received a BS in Business Management from California Coast University. Branam currently resides in Midland with his wife.
Kevin Sistler

Kevin Sistler

Vice President- Business Development- Pulp & Paper Segment

Kevin Sistler joined the Clean Chemistry team in October of 2021 as vice president for pulp and paper. He holds a BS in Pulp and Paper Science Engineering and a Chemistry minor from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Kevin is an active board member for the Paper Science and Chemical Engineering Foundation program where he contributes to the success of the ongoing program and mentors students as they progress on to their careers in pulp and paper. Kevin has also worked in chemical commodities and enzymes. Kevin’s broad career has covered many of the most respected names in specialty and commodity chemicals including Betz Dearborn, BASF (all part of Solenis), Hydrite Chemical, Univar Solutions and Enzymatic Deinking Technologies (EDT). He currently resides in Green Bay, Wisconsin; Wisconsin being the number one paper-producing state in the nation.
Todd Wiseman

Todd Wiseman

Vice President - Business Development - Food and Beverage

Todd Wiseman joins Clean Chemistry as the new vice president, business development for the food and beverage segment. Todd has over 16 years’ experience building customer relationships, cultivating long-lasting partnerships, generating robust sales growth and managing profitability. He was most recently Director of North American Sales at Arxada/Enviro Tech Chemical Services, Inc. Todd also held positions of Director of Technical Sales and Corporate Sales Manager at Enviro Tech Chemical Services, Inc. and Master Food Safety Consultant at Zep Inc. Wiseman received a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Alderson Broaddus University.

Carl Evenson

Carl Evenson

Vice President- Technology Development & Manufacturing

Carl Evenson joined Clean Chemistry in 2017 with a focus on improving the engineering and efficiency of Clean Chemistry’s core technology. Prior to Clean Chemistry he spent 20 years in research and development, innovation, and process scale-up. At several clean energy start-up companies, he was involved in technologies ranging from lithium ion batteries to CO2 capture and biofuels. Throughout his career Carl has also had responsibilities in personnel development, operations and research and development management. Carl has a BA in Chemistry from Gustavus Adolphus College and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Colorado State University.
Vladimir Martysevich

Vladimir Martysevich

Vice President- Health, Safety, Environment & Quality

Vladimir has over 23 years of experience safely and efficiently transforming wellsite operations including the development of machine learning models, statistical flow area calculation methods and advanced rock mechanics testing methods. He held several global positions of increasing responsibility for a major oil field services company where he brought exceptional levels of safety performance to operations and created processes that helped mitigate safety risks and improved service quality. Vladimir has a Master of Science in Geophysics from Novosibirsk State University. Vladimir is a published author, authored 22 patents and is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the American Rock Mechanics Association.
